Redefining Realities

Opens: Wednesday 01st May 2024
Closes: Friday 21st June 2024
Free To View
(Joint Exhibition)

Arlington Arts Centre will once again host Open Studios artists in a joint exhibition.

This year, the theme is ‘redefining realities’. Reality is often considered to be things that actually exist – but that does not mean the state or definition stay the same.

Mary Hare

The Mary Hare Foundation

The Mary Hare Foundation was established in 1991 by Sir Philip Wroughton supported by a group of individuals who wanted to help Mary Hare School by raising funds. The Foundation is a registered charity (number 1002680). All profits from Arlington Arts go to Mary Hare School.
Since the Foundation was established, it has raised over £8 million for development projects at Mary Hare School, including an indoor heated pool, a Year 11 boarding house, and the Arlington Arts Centre.  The school is the biggest school for the deaf in the UK.  Whilst the school receives funding from local authorities and the government, these only cover the teaching and care of pupils.  Development of new facilities and updating of existing ones depend wholly upon fundraising and donations.  The work to raise much needed funds is therefore key to the future of Mary Hare School and its ability to supply excellent provision to so many deaf pupils  going forward.

The Legal Bits

As a separate registered charity, (number 1002680), The Mary Hare Foundation has been established to raise funds for deaf and hard of hearing children. It depends on the support of donations, grants and other fundraising activities to develop its work in the field of educating deaf children.
